Start with the device

Use your device platform’s official lost-device tools to locate or lock a missing phone where available. If theft is suspected, prioritize protecting the device and accounts rather than trying to recover it yourself. A screen lock helps, but does not replace an account recovery plan.

Use an independent way to sign in

Check whether the account provider accepts a registered security key, another trusted device or an unused recovery code. Available options differ by service. Use its official app or known website; avoid recovery offers from unsolicited messages.

Restore only from a backup you trust

If you have an encrypted Auth Code backup, restore it on a trusted replacement device using your backup password. Optional iCloud sync may also help when the required Apple account and settings are available. Verify your restored accounts with actual sign-ins.

Review access after you regain control

Check active sessions, recovery settings and connected applications. Sign out the missing device through the provider where possible. If you believe authenticator secrets were exposed, replace the affected two-factor setup through each service; changing a password alone does not change that secret.

If there is no usable recovery option

Follow each provider’s official account recovery process. Auth Code cannot recreate a missing secret or bypass another service’s security checks. Once access is restored, establish a recovery route that does not rely entirely on one phone.
